Vermilion Business & Professional Women Donation

I bought my ticket today for the Vermilion Business & Professional Women’s “Spring Bling” Event, April 11, 2012 at Papermoon Winery in Vermilion. I'm very excited to attend because I was asked to make a basket for their silent auction and include some of my sewing creations. I am donating 3 carefully handmade fabric flower hair clips, an embellished purse decorated with a hand crafted zipper rosette and a $25 gift certificate for sewing alteration services. If you would like to attend this fun event call Marcia Kingsley 440-967-1371for tickets and details.

Formal Dress Alterations

The yellow dress is an Eastern Star Costume which needed side seams and hem adjustments. The light pink required a strap adjustment and rhinestone belt shortening. The burgandy dress was once a full length gown. I took in the side seams and a horizontal seam in at the waist. The hem was dramatically shortened and shaped to be asymmetrical. These are dresses 2,3, and 4 of the 2012 prom dress season.

Oklahoma Costume Repair

I just had a last minute request to fix a costume for the production of "Oklahoma" at the Vermilion High School. I enlarged the bodice in the back, put in a zipper, and added the front ribbon rosette. Break a leg cast and crew of Oklahoma!

Claire's Stitching Post Pillow

Claire's Stitching Post of Vermilion asked me to finish a lovely wool applique pillow. I added welt cord, backing and stuffing to complete the project. It will be on display in the cross stitch shop.

Prom dress 1, March 19

The first prom dress of the season came needing side seam work. The beading was thickest exactly where the dress was to be taken in.

Faux Chenille Up Close

During the month of February I have made, with a little help from friends, about 40 faux chenille scarves. I am building stock for future craft shows. Thank you Sandy, Kathy, and Heather for your assistance! Here are some up close pictures of faux chenille.

New Power Tool

Who says women don't like power tools???? I just acquired a power rotary fabric saw. It makes cutting fabric like melting butter. Thank you Nicole and Joyce for passing it on to me. Cutting strips for my faux chenille scarves goes much faster with this electric rotary cutter.
